The Caravan Club

We would like to tell you a little bit about the Amateur Radio Club (ARCC). We own and operate a repeater site on the Sandia Crest in Albuquerque, New Mexico. W5CSY which has 2 meter on 145.33 mhz, and 70 cm. on 444.0Mhz. Both repeaters require a 100 Hz PL tone. The repeaters normally operate in the linked cross band repeat mode but can be unlinked for special operating circumstances.

We meet on the second Friday of each month from October through May at 7:00 PM at the Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church 8600 Academy rd. (corner of Academy and Moon) in Albuquerque, NM Click here for a map. We have some very interesting programs and presentations at our meetings. During the summer months we co-sponsor Field Day activities, have a picnic at the Crest repeater site and host a tailgate "hamfest" in April. In early fall we have a corn roast and potluck. Members are invited and encouraged to provide communication for walks, bicycle rides, runs and horse trials in the Santa Fe, Duke City Marathon.

The club holds a Net each Sunday evening at 9:00 PM local time on 145.33 and 444.0 Mhz. for the purpose of holding club business, passing traffic, making announcements of interest to Hams and just getting to know each other. Please join us on the NET, we welcome everyone.

Clubs are a good support for Hams and we would welcome the opportunity to help you in any way that we can. We invite you to come to a meeting, talk to us on the Sunday night Net, and join the Amateur Radio Caravan Club!

Vern W5CSY, We will always keep him in our hearts.

We will always remember our wonderful friend and Ham Floyd Elder( WD5HDY). Floyd was a leader in our Ham community. He was a great person and we are all better people because we knew him.

We all will miss you. Godspeed 88 73

Field Day 2009
Montgomery Park - Comanche and Alvarado NE
The annual Field Day event for Amateur Radio takes place the last full weekend of June each year. This year two clubs, The Albuquerque Amateur Radio Club and the Amateur Radio Caravan Club are jointly sponsoring Field Day activities at Montgomery Park in the NE Heights of Albuquerque. Official operating hours are from Noon on June 27 until Noon, June 28, 2009. The public is invited to come out and see how amateur radio operates under emergency conditions in the field, using self contained power sources and portable equipment. There will be a "Get-On-The-Air" station where non-licensed operators get a chance to see what radio is about.
